Feeling a bit left out as Gen wont be competing for a while till he sorts himself out so I have VERY SELF INDULGENTLY put a photo up of him at one of his last competitions.

We shall miss going to the Regionals as well but really NEED to get his mind back into forward mode. He is only just 7 so plenty of time and we always prefer not to push him too hard. (Plus we are waiting for Millie to have her baby so a good excuse).

Good luck to everyone who is doing Regionals and I am hoping to go to the Oldencraig one as a supporter of a friend at Prelim. Hope to also get to see P_G and Freestyler at one too.

Thanks. He can be such a star and then have a complete strop and rear and run backwards - hence he is not going anywhere (except to school) until he has sorted himself out a bit.

That piccy was taken from a video of his last Elem. I believe. In the warm-up he was napping at the gate constantly, rearing, running backwards and bucking. Poor Mike is such a great rider - id get off personally and hide lol.

Gen has a lot of promise when he gets it all together. Im sure it will start to click again and we can get over this little 'speed ramp' on the training road.

Hiya Folara, what has happend to Gen?? I am sooooo sorry you will not be at the regionals.. but I am sure you are making the right decision.. plenty more years to do regionals..it can be very disheartening competing cant it??!!grrrrrrrhhhh!!!

Gen is having a few issues with impulsion and forward thinking so Mike has had to go back a few steps to get him a bit straighter and much more 'off the leg'. He wasnt moving truly forward so when it came to doing more collection he would crunch up behind the leg and then ultimately end up rearing and running backwards when the pressure got too much.

Its a blip in his training which, if all things are considered has gone pretty well up to date.

I also want to get him out to lots of schools so that he gets more than the 5 mins of a test. He has always had a lack of confidence and used to get terrible stage-fright so we are hoping getting him out to different schools without the added pressure of a competition will ultimately help him in the long run. We were always a bit restricted before due to lack of transport but now with our LURVELY new lorry we can do more things.

It also means I should have more time to go and watch other ppl do their Regionals and be a pure spectator for a season.

WOW - hes gorgeous! I dont think ive ever seen a proper picture of him!

As for the regionals, im hoping to qualify Archie for the elementary regionals - but we'l see, its early days yet and im not too bothered if we dont!

I take my hat off to you, sounds like youare doing absolutly the right thing for Gen.
Hope to see new photo's when training all sorted and confidence it high.

Fantastic chap and I think he's a superstar. Have you got that photo on the wall? It's so nice. Hope he has a happy summer out and about and zooming forwards. (Which from the photo it looks like he can do very nicely when he wants to).

Yep, sounds like the best plan of action I think. He is still only young and you do not want to spoil what you have already, and I am sure there is much more to come from him too.. time is the thing, some horses require more. New horsebox eh!! Lucky you... the one I borrow has just had its ramp fall off...

hopefully it will be fixed for Sat or I shall not be going to Patchetts.

Damn. WIsh I was nearer cos I would happily come and get you. You need to work on your hubby cos you guys are too good to be stuck without transport.

Ahhh thankyou very much that is very nice of you.. i'll work on hubby!!! Problem is I need a BIG box because of "misters" size ..... nothing fancy though.. just sturdy and reliable... we are not proud!!

Our old lorry was like that - not exactly fast or fancy but it did manage to get us from A to B.

Our new lorry is luxury and its MASSIVE so plenty of room. Our old lorry only just fitted Gen. We love it and feel very lucky and very priviledged. Mind you if it wasnt for me sharing it with a friend we certainly wouldnt have been able to afford it. Is there anyone you could poss share with?

no one to share with unfortunately at the moment, but I will think about asking... most do have their own but either box full, going to a different show or doing much higher classes and way different times...I have been spoilt by being allowed to take my friends box I suppose

... hopefully we shall get the ramp back on soon.......before the regionals I hope anyway!!
