Sadly, at a local show today a pony had to be shot on site as something had happened to it whilst unattended on a lorry.
Don't know exactly what happened, I was at the show and heard 4 different things about how long it was left for and what damage had been done, but, it's a reminder to us all that, even though horses may be locked in the truck, accidents can still happen. If you have to leave you transport, even if it's just for a few minutes, try to ask somebody to keep and eye and ear out for any mishaps.
Thoughts are with the pony's owners, it's a very small equine community here, they must be totally devasted.
