First party for my 3yr welsh D today.
Bit of back ground........
He had a retained testicle and had to have it removed from his abdomen back in Feb, TBH i never realized how much it would have affected him, i was naively believed that he would be back to his normal self shortly after
he dropped alot of weight and with the bad winter and lack of grass he has had a pretty tough time. However the past few weeks he has really flourished and has put the weight on and has started to fill out and grow
Decided to take him to a local show - its very quiet and mainly ihand showing classes, i took my cob here too a few years ago as her first show.
We left a bit earlier so there would be no rushing about. Got there at 1230 - he travelled really well (first time with another horse too)
got him out and his eyes where on stalks for about 10 mins then he completley chilled out
my class wasnt till 330 so we had lots of time. We picked a good spot in the field and let them graze for a while inhand. Took the boy for a nose he spotted a very scary xc log and a few other big xc fences and had a bit of a shy

I polished and pimped him and thought he looked really good.
First class m&m youngstock. The class was 6 strong. Still i thought we may have got placed...........he did a good trot and stood up nicely for the judges.
Was surprised we where pulled in last
the judge handed me the rosette said thanks and went to walk away!! not so fast!!..........i asked for some feedback and he said for a 3yr old he looks very under-developed and hasn't got any depth to him and basically out of proportion?!! erm, he's 3!!
still he said he has potential and moved very nicely.
So i left the ring feeling a bit deflated. Next class best gelding, 9 in the class again pulled in last - pretty harsh i thought!!
We didn't go to win we went for experience. He behaved so well and i am exceptionally proud of what a well behaved and mannered boy he was
and yes i was a little miffed if am honest especially in the gelding class as i feel he went and looked in better condition than some of the other horses in the class.
That's showing for you!!
Piccies of the boy, not the best - waiting for the pro pics! ..........and do you think he looks under developed for a 3yr old?
