Been a while since I updated - but first time in a while that I've had something to update about
So, on Friday I went XC with the 13hh(ish) palomino machine called George (some of you may recognise him from previous posts!) and I got up to fence 10 where he realised he didn't like it, and ran out. Gave him a tap, drove him on and jumped it. Only problem, he jumped so big that I went tumbling over his head
He then galloped off, then jumped over the last fence and went to the beginning of the course
I came back to see him being held by one of the helpers looking very pleased with himself
photographer got a simply lovely pick of me falling off, and I'm gonna buy it as soon as it goes on the site!
Then, on Monday there was a bank holiday show where I was doing a PC quadrille display at lunch, and had hired George for the day to do a WHP class on him, along with novice SJ (75cm) and a speed round thing at 80cm! Came 4th in WHP, 1st in Novice and 3rd in Speed round!!!
Here are some pics
And yes, before you say anything, I know I'm a bit big for him (me being a quite leggy 5'4 - him being 13hh) But he can carry me easily and I wanted one last show on him before I admitted I was a bit too big
And, as always, CC welcomed! Be nice though
So, anyway. That was the show!! Was so chuffed! Though exhausted at the end! As was George! Got off, loosened girth, walked round, took him back to his stable, untacked, refilled his water, unplaited, flicked with a brush, picked out feet and left him to his hay
But, onto other stuff!
My mum had been 'toying' with the idea of me getting my own horse. She'd told me I was allowed one but then various dramas cropped up and it was put on hold! Was a very tricky period, I was annoyed at parents, my favourite horse was sold, brother moved out of home and blah blah blah! Anyway, at the show my Dad also began warming to the idea and even made a joke that he wouldn't be able to afford a horse at this rate because he'd have to start saving up for a cabinet to put all my trophies in! Coming from my Dad, that's quite big
Then he started asking what I was looking for etc!! My mum then arrived at the show and was talking with various people.. And it looks like I definitely will be getting a horse soon!!!!
Couldn't be happier! Thought it'd be in a year or two because of the said dramas!!!
But what's happening is that the RS I'm riding at at the moment are getting a few horses in that would be suited for me (described exactly what I wanted) and that I'd ride them etc and see what they were like and then if I liked one of them we could put in an offer! That way I can get a better feel without having to go halfway up the country to try out a horse once and decide! If that doesn't work out then we'll start looking at dealers etc.. But anyway, thoughts on this arrangement? I thought it was quite a good idea seeing as I've never *officially* looked at a horse and stuff
Anyway, a mahoooosive ramble from me, I'm sorry!! Cheesecake and whatever your poison is for making it this far!
Am just to happy - feel like I'm on cloud nine! I'll probably come crashing back down again though tomorrow when I have to wake up at 7 for school
xx
