Farrier came this morning to shoe Clover. I wont say we're over the worst yet, touch wood, but she's sound and farrier wants me to start walking her. I thought I'd show you the contrasts... for someone like me its been a huge learning curve. Mistakenly you think you can blindly put faith into the "professionals". Well clearly this certain professional and this horse, do not suit. I'm not saying for a moment he didn't suit previously or that he doesn't do a good job for many - but what he were doing clearly wasn't working.
Clover's feet to begin with (BEARING IN MIND THIS IS WEEK 6.5!)
Clover stood "up" half of the way she's standing is due to the camber of the walkway, half I think due to trying to take the weight off those fronts...
Her expression says it all about how she's feeling
I now know this "jib" is due to pain
Clover's feet after a trim
Clover's feet after shoeing 1 week later
Standing up
Clover's expression now...
I have done a lot of reading and research, a lot prompted from here. Never again will I allow myself to blindly accept things but I'll ask more questions and try to know more first.
Hope this thread helps people identify things wrong and helps people have the courage to question things if the don't think they are right
I had asked if she needed doing more frequently, I asked if she had thrush, I asked if her feet were in good health, what could I do to help her feet? I never got the answers SHE needed sadly
Anyway thanks for all the PMs and best wishes, Clover appreciates them all and so do I!
Cookies and cuppa for all!!!
