For everyone who was so helpful and enthusiastic when I was thinking about doing the deed...one month on and Im so chuffed with Murry. He travelled the 3 hours in the lorry and settled in with no bother at all, tbh as long as he has a field to graze he doesnt seem to have a care in the world (I shall have to be very careful with his weight!!). We ended up going back to the lady I bought him from and buying his old saddle so havent ridden much but have had a lovely time bonding, he's a real softy and loves a cuddle. The last 2 weekends I have taken him off the yard for short hacks and he has been so good, very nosey but ears pricked, listening to me waffling on and generally stepping out really nicely. We will only be happy hackers, we have fabulous bridleways near us so really looking forward to clocking up some miles. I have learned that they are not called Hipos for nothing, he has dug himself a wallowing pit and I am having to fight every fibre of my being not to stick a rug on him. The plus side is that I am developing nice toned arms from mega grooming sessions. So all in all a great start, he is the nicest pony to know, really friendly and happy (if a little grubby).
