My partners mum owns a lovely 15hh coloured 3yr old gelding, hes was broken slowly over the summer & is a lovely genuine boy, the problem we have is my OH's mum is very very novicey (though having lessons) & she has also had a knee replacement which does sadly limit her riding ability. She doesn't want to sell him as she is very attached to him, so i have suggested to her perhaps she might be able to find someone with something wanting a quieter life (& preferably a bit shorter & easier to get on for her) & who is looking for something younger to do more stuff on & have some fun, so basically a loan swap. I don't really know how viable something like this would be, but i thought it could potentially be a situation that would be of benefit to both parties, she would want it to be a long term arrangement, so incase anyone thinks it would case of getting someone else to do the work with him & then nab him back it definitely wouldn't be. So does anyone think it would be a viable idea & has anyone ever tried it & did it work out?
