Due to the retirement of my TB, I am now horseless (well, riding wise). I do not have the time to take on another horse full time, so would like to loan one for 2-3 months in the summer while I am off uni. I ride one in term time but she can't come home with me as her field mate needs her.

Has anyone ever done this? Do you think anyone would want to loan out their horse for the best bit of the year? I was thinking of people having babies or who find it hard to cope with the horse when the kids are on school holidays? Where could I look for one? Any ideas welcome!

I did this with my horse one year. He was on loan from July to September to a Uni student. Worked out ok. As you say, there maybe somebody out there who'd do similar.

Edit: Advertised him on Horsemart and hd 20+ replies.

Pregnant, rode for most of it but he's spooky, so didn't want to risk it towards the end plus not the sort of horse that likes time off.

To be honest, I can't see that being easy as it is the time of year when everybody wants to ride. Good luck though.

Do u live near an equine collage - quite a few of them loan out over the summer as their owners don't want the horses back and most of their 'staff' are on summer break.
