Bt i was wondering if anyone has ever had a dog, knows someone who has which has had the condition Megaesophagus? We have a dog at the moment with it. He was only pridicted to live utill 6months old and yet he will be 7yrs old in april!

have seen several cases of megaoesophagus - usually they die pretty quickly of aspiration pneumonia (they regurgitate food and inhale it into their lungs, get bad pneumonia and die). your dog has done fab to get to 7yrs old. the condition can be managed by feeding from a raised platform etc - there is no real treatment for it - it's something you have to live with.

He gets 9 meals a day from a high platform , half are fattening baby powder milk and the others are liqiudized dog food.

I have searched the interenet to try and find ther dogs which have survived like Deefa has but even are vets havn't seen a case last past 6 months

Hi Star. Dont mean to steal thread, but I need to say a big thank you ... although Im newly registered, ive been watching for years. The other week you answered a query for someone re vitiligo. Our vet dismissed this for one of my horses and x-rayed his hock, but it was clean. We managed to get the copper suppliment you recommended, and after about 6 weeks Fred is now sound ! THANK YOU SO MUCH xxx

I have just put some pics of Deefa the wonder dog lol up in the photo gallery if you would like to take a look at him.
