Over the hill and far awa
We took my Appy and my sisters new mare out for the second time this afternoon. The Appy is very much in season which always makes her a bit nappy. She does not have confidence in her new friend yet and is actually worse with her than she is on her own! The new girl was wonderful and did not turn a hair at any of the traffic we met (there was quite a lot, fine Sunday afternoon and all that). The Appy took offense at a car bumber and a bit of bonnet on the grass verge, the new girl simply waited until the Appy had got her act together and on we went. We came back across the common and met a nice family out with their dogs and both mares stood and chatted for a while. Then about a hundred yards from home we met two boys who had made a three person long go cart, the Appy was ready to spook, the new girl ignored it. We came home, with a short interlude for the Appy to squirt for the gelding next door
and both back in the field. This is very self-indulgent, but it is nice to share good news.
