The first time I got a glimpse of what my mother was going to be like in the horsey world was when she told me to "Bloody BOOT it, child!!" at a small show about 4 years ago.

She's taken everything in her stride ever since, from being with me through all the ups and downs of my 3 years with Chloe, to buying our beloved Beetle lorry on a whim. She has accompanied me to every show I've been to, despite being completely un-horsified, hurled me back up into the saddle when I've fallen off, and has donned her wellies and barbour and trumped through the countryside hoping to catch a glimpse of me out hunting, season after season.

She learnt how to drive the lorry so she could bring my horse on our Sussex holiday with us, although understandably the entire journey was spent muttering 'I have been reduced to a flaming chauffeur!!!'

She done it all, from groom to loose horse catcher, despite being quite nervous of horses. She grew to love my horse, and cried more than me when she sold her. Despite being a fiery, loud redhead, she has this unbelievable calming effect on horses, its lovely to watch. If I felt my horse getting out of hand in a warm up, she'd take her for 5 minutes and come back with a very chilled pony. (no doping involved

Her skill in always bagging the last hotdog at the food stand on a grim day is immense, not to mention her brilliant commentary on videos, her inspiring 'oh bloody get ON with it' talks, and her impressive horsey multi-tasking ability which meant any horse dragging its toes when turned out by her got a sharp talking to.

I can't thank her enough for all she's done for me. She's been behind me, come rain or sun, and I wouldn't be able to do it without her. Thank you so, so much mum.

Am incredibly lucky, and don't worry I won't forget that!

She is just about to do a 4 hour round trip to take me up to see a horse for sale tomorrow, too. We will make multiple maccy D stops and play mamma mia far too loudly, as we usually do on our horse road trips LOL!!!

LOL it did take a good few months before Mum could grasp which one was mine - She'd actually half tacked up the wrong horse once! Mum was mortified when I told her that horse wasn't ours LOL! And yes, but you'll have to pay a hefty fee - her homemade picnics at shows are legendary

Recommending a new business idea to you:

"Rent-a-Mum"

It's nice when mums are like that... you are very lucky. Wished any of my parents could have been like that when I was younger... I definitely intend to be like that should I have horsey kids one day (well, if I do have kids, they probably will end up being horsey

LOL you won't need to sneak - she loves showing people the lorry - I think she secretly only bought it because it had cushions, curtains with jazzy tassles and a grill for cheese toasties.

I am liking this idea.....

I am definately very lucky, and intend to do the same if I have kids, too!
Even dad (even MORE un-horsey) took me to a show once. It was a recipe for disaster though, as he strode through the middle of a very busy warmup trying to chase me to give me my burger and tea LOL!!! It was super of him to spend his Saturday as chief chocolate and tea supply/horse holder!

PMSL....can just imagine mum just opening up the lorry, peering in to see a stranger staring out, and her just going, "want a cuppa love?"
tongue.gif
She's very like that - When we were sjing at felbridge I came back to find her having a mothers meeting with some other long suffering mummies, who she'd met 5 mins before

A lovely post, it must be so nice to have parental support. My parents are still waiting for me to grow out of the horsey phase - and I'm 48!
