So my understanding of Potters etc is that the horse cannot be signed out of the food chain. Yet all these meat buyers who go to auctions don't get to view the passports before purchase so how do they know they will/won't be signed out? Do Potters still take them but sell to Zoe's etc instead of human consumption? Don't get it?

Potters wont put them through at all if they are signed out. They go in the bin.
I think at most sales you can view the passport as they get lodged with the auctioneer?

I was asking this question a few months back, i think they go through to kill and then on for pet food, but i never really got an answer too my questions!

I think they end up in pies regardless of what the passport says.....thought that for a long time and then had it confirmed when horses turned up in so many products !

Would the meat not go the same route as fallen stock? i.e. pet food.

(Though whether it actually does is another matter! The meat trade is about as straight as a dog's hind leg as has recently been revealed).
