Unlce took both Tina and Cindy out duck shooting last night. Tina is an old hand at water retrieval but hasn't been duck shooting in a while, whereas Cindy as never done any water retrieval (she now swims grand, but never lifted a bird from water)
Uncle shot a mallard and a teal. Tina retrieved mallard no bother, Cindy swam out with her and back in with no problems. The teal was a woundey, landed and then shot straight into water (what they do is go under the water with just their beak poking out, so a difficult retrieve for a more established dog, dark, hard to see) Cindy went out on her own, couldn't see it so was called back and the old girl went in.
What a star. Even with just one eye, she was out and back in, teal in mouth before you knew it
Very pleased with both of them
Cindy although was not impressed being out at night in the rain and apparently sat shivering looking sorry for herself
