As title, for the first time I was let loose in the art of a horse walker! I understand the controls, can get the horses on and off it without a hitch, but I was ages puzzling about how fast they should or shouldn't be walking? These are polo ponies (chestnuts) who do PC level and are late teens/early 20's getting fit for the season after a 'ticking over' winter, and cobweb - grey, 4 year old getting fit to hopeully become 'something' this summer.
Whats your opinions on this?
Short vid, bad quality but you may get the idea.

(hope it works?)

Yup, the video works! Well done - you're better than me with technology!

But I've never used a horse walker, so not much help there I'm afraid! Maybe looked a bit fast? But really not sure!! I'm sure someone will tell you!

Thanks anyway. I guess they weren't slobbing along, neither were they jogging, but I was there ages trying to work it out! I must of looked a right numpty!! lol

We had a HW at my old place. At the emd of the day, the idea is the horse works. Its not meant to be a slow amble like they do in the field, its meant to be a forward going walk. As long as they don't look like they are needing to break into trot, then I would say its a good speed.

i would say it was just a tad to fast, only reason i say is the chesnut is really having to walk on to keep up and the paddel is still up his bum, i do it so they are walking out but comfortably in the middle. so not to slow that they are walking into the paddel infront but not to fast that its up their bottom. If that makes any sense!
