"A new puppy wrecked my health, home and happiness"

Tbh she was green and naive and did the right thing when she realised she had made a huge mistake .
Puppies are very very hard work but when you have the dog thing it’s just the best time an investment in the huge adventure you and dog are going to have together.

I'd like to think the article was far fetched and ridiculous but I dont think it is. My dog was an adult when I met my partner, but I've posted before about the shock he got when we got Floyd as a puppy. I honestly think if it had just been him and Floyd he would have taken him back to the breeder. Whereas I genuinely think Floyd was one of the best behaved and easiest pups I've ever had.

My neighbours are well used to me bimbling about the garden in my dressing gown last thing at night, starting off with encouraging notes of 'busy busy', then on to a more urgent 'pee-pees' and then hissing 'FFS will you do a bloody poo!!' or 'GO AND EMPTY' depending on the dog :p

Ha ha, same, but I’m more likely to be saying ‘Stop staring at the bloody fish, Bear and have a pee, for god’s sake!’

Not sure that this is relevant to my first post, but Ironman just cycled past as I was collecting a urine sample in a frying pan. I suspect I may not be quite his thing.:D

I actually had a mental image of the Wizard of Oz characters cycling past, then I remembered that was the Tin Man 😛 Sounds a perfectly normal thing to be doing to me, I use a plastic tray not a frying pan though 😂

ooh I've managed to attach a quote. Your neighbours should count themselves lucky, a few years back my neighbour caught up with me on a walk to say one of my dogs had been on top of the fence looking at him. This was a six foot larchlap fence and I think she was probably leaning on her forearms. She also ripped her pads climbing a tree after a squirrel. Some dogs have no boundaries. The neighbours have since moved. I see there's a programme coming up on raising puppies, should be interesting, or not.

Completely unrealistic expectations on the pup and what having a dog is like. Plus realy seems to have no idea about what the reality of life with a young pup-which is never fun lol is like and the need for training.I have to admit I swore repeatedly I would never have another pup after my current one- the plan is now potentially another in the next year or 2 lol! Puppies are always hard work....and like babies you sort of play it down as they get older and forget how awful it is to own one!

It also sort of sounds like her mental health issues were at play here more then the pup being the issue.... and that shes very dramatic in general.
I'm glad she had enough sense to send it back to the breeder for rehoming hopefully it was old enough for them to reverse the inevitable separation anxiety from the pampering and constant attention.
The sad thing is a chilled out older dog might have settled into her life quite easily and she could have enjoyed dog ownership more without the same level of stress and anxiety.
