The last few days have been pretty exciting around here. First, there was the long ride we took down where it was very rocky, and on the way, there was a loud thing with an orange flashing light on top that kept roaring and zipping back and forth over the grass! I wasn't even scared, but I think the Carrot Lady was, because she was flapping her arm around and shouting (I couldn't hear what over the roaring thing), and then we turned around and left.

When we got to the bottom of the rocky place, there was another road with lots of fast things on it, and I mean really lots of fast things.

Normally I don't worry about fast things, except the whirry wobbly ones with two wheels, but there were so many, I asked the Carrot Lady if we could please turn around. And we did!

Then, yesterday, the best, most exciting thing happened! I got a square thing! A red square thing, which tastes really good, and apparently, it's all for me!

I licked it and licked it and licked it, except then we had to go for another ride, but afterwards I got to lick it lots more. The Carrot Lady had to pull me away to get me back in the field! She's wondering if I have a mineral deficiency now, but given that she kept complaining about the rock collection that I tried to keep in my feet, I think that can't be right.

The ride itself was ok. We went out with the big horse that kept narking at me in the trailer the one day, and a chestnut mare that I didn't know. She was a bit silly. It started raining lots while we were out---I think the Carrot Lady complained about it on here yesterday! She's such a wuss sometimes, honestly. It's just rain!

Today, I got to have my new red square thing again while we got ready to go. I tried to gnaw bits off, but it's too hard, and kept sliding around. I didn't much like the interruption for the ride, and what's more, we went to that other square thing, namely, the square place with the roof on, where I had to go around in tiny circles forever, until I was about ready to buck!

I didn't buck though. But the Carrot Lady was very happy with me, and they were talking about "working properly", and how I'm not lame anymore. So I guess that's all good!

Later, there was more of the red square thing. It's a bit less square now. I hope I get it again tomorrow!

Dearest Spooky One,

Your week sounds like an excellent one. I have to admit to being intrigued by the 'square thing' - I wonder if my human will get one for me, do you think Harrods do them?

I have to admit to having found a way of ensuring that my human shows due deference. Having been away for a week, with some peope that made me work excessively hard (so much so that I was too tired to weave! Imagine that), my human one thought it acceptable to get on and demand a trot under her control. Well, I tell you, I showed her what her bad manners will bring - a little bit of head throwing, hollowing my back, and generally threatening to bob off was all it took for her to ask nicely. I did trot round properly in the end for her, once she had learnt her lesson, and she did give me a rather smart pick fleece blanket affair.

There was talk of 'stress', 'vets bills', and the 'Pedigree Chum factory'; the former I know nothing of, I would never conern myself over mere money, and as for the latter, what her dogs have to do with me I cannot comprehend (I did tell her we should have Corgis, but she thinks she knows best).

Anyway, to cut a long story short, the next day I refused to let her near me. Well darling Spooky one, for goodness sake it was six o'clock in the morning! What does she think I am, a cockeral? A lady needs her rest. To ensure that the point was well and truly driven home, I encouraged Human in an early morning constiutional for a good fifteen minutes. I have to say, the way these humans change colour under exertion is most interesting, though I have to say that red does not necessarily suit my particular human. Hm. Nor does using foul language, especially not so early in the day; it could be said that I was doing it for her own good, she says often that she needs to get fitter.

However, I digress, the upshot was that Human didn't have time to ride, so she prepared a rather delicious breakfast for me instead, and stood with me whilst I ate, rubbing all my special places and generally being rather pleasant company. The next morning she approached, again at this previously unheard of hour, with a carrot! I so hope she had not purloined it from you my dearest Spooky! It was particularly delicious, as were the apples in my breakfast: Human had gone to the trouble of buying in both red apples and green appls in case I preferred one over the other. I have to say that they are all good in my considered opionion and I showed my appreciated by sharing a mouthful of apple juice and Alpha A Oil with Human. I think she was pleased. Something about 'washing machines', but no further reference to Pedigree Chum, which a friend has assured me is a Good Thing.

So, this week has been one of carrots and apples and other rather scumptious things to eat and no work; the rest of the week Human's humans have taken care of my breakfast requirements, and my rather gorgeous new shoes yesterday. Actually, I haven't seen my human for three days now. Hm. I do hope I haven't upset her too much, whilst it is good to show her her place every now and then, I do quite miss the scratches and the quiet time together; in fact, once we get back into our rythem, the exercise we take together is rather pleasant.

Dearest Spooky! I am so dreadfully sorry! I appear to have gone on at quite some length. Please accept my apologies and I look forward to conversing further with you when you are able to do so.

With warmest regards,

The Dizzy One

Dear Spooky

My Carrot Lady put one of those square red things in my stable and in that Mad Old Mare's too! We had to have one cut in half because CL said a whole one each was 'asking for trouble', whatever that means!

It is delish! Has yours got a sort of fruity smell to it too? CL said she'd never smelt a min-err-rol lick like it and it must be some strange forrin thing! Well, I like to give mine a quick swipe and maybe nibble a bit off the edge (although CL says I seem to drool most of it down the wall - well she should put it somewhere easier to get at then!)

MoM just ate hers. CL took it out in the end so now she only gets a little bit put in her stable every now and then - she is really jealous cos I still have loads left. Sometimes I lick it just to annoy her!

Happy lickings!!

Dear Dizzy and FB,

so good to hear from both of you! The square thing is red, and it doesn't taste like fruit at all. It tastes a bit like the stable wall, or like people when you lick them! I don't know if Harrods does them, but if they don't, they should! It's certainly a very posh treat, I think.

I know what you mean about being chased early in the morning. The Carrot Lady does that to me too, and it usually means that we have to go to the square place with the roof on and get yelled at by the Scary Chicken Flap Man. But sometimes, it means going in the thing on wheels, and then we end up somewhere where we get to run really really fast for quite a while. So I never quite know whether to run away or not: lately, it's seemed easier all around just to come in when she wants.

Dizzy, congratulations on the fluffy pink blanket! I have a blue one with purple on that you can have, if you like!

Carrots,
