A nice set of long reins?

To my surprise, my youngster and I are quite enjoying long reining. At the moment I have two lunge lines but having watched You Tube videos of experienced long-reiners, they usually have the reins in one hand and a whip in the other. My lunge lines are too bulky to do this so I want to get some dedicated long reins. Any suggestions of which are best? I've seen several with a sort of string dog-lead type part that goes to the bit and a flat part that you hold - i don't fancy them but perhaps they work well? I could make myself some - I have all the gubbins to attach trigger hooks to webbing, but I'm not sure what the best webbing would be to get.
Any advice welcome!

Definitely the cord ended ones, they give a much better feel because they slide so much easier, you can give a release much more instantly. I love mine.

I have thin cheap webbing lunge lines that are quite good. Or if I'm doing close behind work with very short reins I use these on my horse that I bought for the pony. They're rubber and lovely to grip. Long reining can mean different things things to different people, there's lunging with 2 reins where you need long ones, and straight line long reining that you do on the road. Imho these are perfect for that

It's more lunging with two reins than close work at the moment, but I definitely don't need a full lunge length. The Kramer catalogue has what they call a 'double lunge line' but in the picture it is just curled into a mass with two tigger hooks showing so I can't see anything clearly.

Ah TBF if I am road long reining I do tend to use a lunge line and a clip to the other side but equally I don't have to do a lot, it's just because he is less tedious in front than led ;).

I think the kramer ones are thin cord then thicker soft cord for holding- you can see the difference whether the leather join is.

I used to knot a lunge line to a lead rope, but buying the pony reins for the pony changed it, I use them for in hand work where my hands sit on his bum so I can do shoulder in (well my attempt at it!).

The plain thin canvas ones have always worked for me, but realise there's probably better options out there.

I've got a set of synthetic driving reins I could be persuaded to sell you for a minimal sum if you think they would do. I assume I can say that without a telling off as when I finally get round to sorting all my stuff I'll be putting it on the regional board.

Thanks, could you tell me how long they are? I haven't been around driving tack much!

*waves* am needing some for long reining TF before I get the full harness on, if not spoken for, would you PM me with what you'd like for them etc? :)
(am currently using lunge lines, which are too long for a shetland, so too many loops!)
