My TB mare is getting a little excitable at the moment on her current feed which is just the feed merchants own basic mix and hi fi lite with also codlivine supplement, She has a decent amount of this, breakfast half a stubbs scoop of mix and half chaff, tea full scoop mix full scoop chaff. She has 4-5 sections of hay a night, 1 section at half 6 in the morning, then turned out at 9 and has a section in her paddock which doesnt have an awful lot of grass. I need to sustain her weight which she is holding okay at the moment but not heat her up too much. I hope this makes sense as I'm shattered from work! I'm thinking of ride and relax and want to know your opinions and experiences? Thanks.

I don't feed any mixes, they are usually too high in starch for my liking; you could try Fast Fibre and add some linseed if she needs to hold weight or swap the hifi to a chaff with oil, either Alpha A Oil or the new Molasses Free has oil added.

Phone A & P ask to get rep out Kate Witty for this area, put my ISH on fast fibre and I use Dengie hifi lite blue bag she is very nice and brouht me 2 trial bags vet and fast fibre pm if you want her mobile no.

I found ride and relax caused my lovely chilled out mare to be anything but! If you are after keeping some weight on then I would go with calm and condition - fab stuff and never found it to be heating even on the sensitive souls!
AngieandBens suggestion is good too, love fast fibre (even the picky ones seem to absolutly love it), and microionized linseed would give you additional nutrition as well as cals - pretty cheap to feed and no prep needed.
I would also be inclined to move to a no molasses chaff. If she is hard to keep weight on then maybe aplha a oil? Or the dengie no molasses ones, or topspec topchop lite or badmington feeds alpha lite. They are the only ones I know of with no molasses.

I found this too!

Feed mill had run out of my normal calm and condition so i used ride and relax.
I decided to keep one of my boys on it but he turned in to non relaxed ride!

I am the biggest Allen & Page fan absolutely will not feed my horses anything else BUT Ride and Relax neither of the greedy cobs would eat and when I gave the bag to my friends trotter it sent him loopy!! I love Calm & Condition & Fast Fibre and just give the boys 1kg of each feed a day split between 2 meals (inc chaff) and it's enough to keep them looking good but not put weight on.

Own brand mixes are often quite high in starch. Even Ride & Relax is 15% starch.

Alternatives that you could consider, depending on the calorie content you require, are Spiller's High Fibre Cubes (10% starch and 8.4 MJDE/kg) or for a more calorific feed Spiller's Response Slow Release Cubes (12% starch and 11 MJDE/kg). A&P Fast Fibre is very low starch (5% and 8 MJDE/kg), but some horses can be a bit fussy about eating it.

Obviously, it goes without saying that if you are trying to maintain condition then your horse should be getting as much hay as it can possibly eat (so that there is a little bit left in the morning).

I used Ride and Relax on my boy and he was fine on it. Then they ran out where I normally buy it, so I bought Calm and Condition instead. A big thumbs up for this from me. My boy lives out, rugged, and has half to 3/4 of a scoop of this (depending on how cold it is) with a big scoop of chaff, twice a day and he looks fab :D

ETA - he also had as much hay as he could eat when the weather was bad. He has now moved to winter pasture and has a field full of grass to munch on too.
