A plea from XC control

Spent yesterday working in XC control at MKEC. You wouldn't believe the amount of time wasted trying to find out if someone who hasn't presented for XC at the allotted time is going to run.

So please, please please if you decide to withdraw after dressage or SJ take a few minutes just to let the sec know.

Tis a hard enough enough job without having to chase around competitors that have already left the event.

I gather the PN course was pretty big so can imagine a few dropping out at that event (friend from yard retired after 4 jumps)

Really!! That is why I try not to go there, especially with inexperienced horses/babies as they can really beef the PN up and has a lot of Novice fences in and sometimes a double of corners.

Just waiting for the results to come up from yesterday, spose they will all come up together after today. Bet the ground is hard there unless they have had teh rain that we havent!!

Yup, hers was an inexperienced horse, and the course was big (compared to other events) and technical

Think there was a problem with communication there, as we withdrew but a friend said they were looking for us.Definately told them where you collected numbers.

Now that wouldn't surprise me.

Fence 4 was the one causing all the trouble. I wouldn't say MK was particularly big or technical overall, the problem with it is that all the questions come in the first half of the course before less experienced horses get in their stride.

Fence 4 shouldn't have caused the problems it did. Most of the time it was down to rider not sitting the horse on its hocks as they came down the hill and burying them in the bottom of it.

You can just see the horse (mine) go down the drop after the fence.

Your right, I know that fence and not a particuarly technical fence, I would expect my 5 yr old to jump that fine even if it was fence 4

Think the problem there may have been the large white banner to the left of fence.It was very close and very white.Horses seemed more scared of that than the fence

I was there for a friend as groom yesterday, we had a lovely day

The SJ wasnt as big as it was last year, or maybe its me just being braver, and thinking my ickle pony could manage them.

The Intro xc looked lovely, and seemed to ride really well

xc control seemed to like my friends coloured

Yes she was!

She got 34.5 dressage, one down sj and clear xc, came 13th
