OH took woofer on a walk round Ludlow this afternoon- all was well and woofer was sniffing a patch of grass then all of a sudden her just would not put weight on paw- she's a little worse now shes home (stiff from flopping on the floor I guess) she's off to vets in the morning - any ideas what she might have done? She wont let us touch it much although we have inspected for cuts etc- just a sprain?

Nope- no heat- BUT oddly enough woofer does feel generally warmer than she normally does- plus she's hanging on her own more this evening

Has she perhaps gotten something in it and has an abscess/infection flaring?

(May be way off the mark - one of ours is recovering from blackthorn and I am thorn obsessed atm!)

Maybe she get her foot stuck in a hole or something and twisted/sprained it whilst the OH wasn't looking?
And If I was feeling sorry for myself I might go and take myself off somewhere out of the way from the normal hustle and bustle of house life...

She could have sprained a toe but if all she was doing was sniffing a patch of grass when it came on suddenly, I would guess something sharp has gone into her pad or up between her toes. If it's gone in all the way you may not be able to see or feel anything.
