My mare loves jumping and often goes quickly into fences. When I try to check her to slow her she sometimes throws her head up very high. She's actually knocked my teeth out a few years ago doing this which is why I have avoided jumping for a long time.
She's very well schooled on the flat and I try to be as relaxed as possible when jumping, I put trot poles in front of the jump and mainly jump from a trot at home (the problems mainly when we're out jumping).
I want to try to solve the problem with schooling but I think its more a case of too much enery and too much excitement (she has a handful of chaff and balancer for her feed), rather than a schooling problem (hope that makes sense).
She's ridden for jumping in a dutch gag with a french link (middle ring) and a running martingale- does the martingale need shortening?
Any schooling or bitting/tack suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks
