I just wanted to post this because Ethel has come along so much and I just wanted to show you all :)

This was her being ridden sometime last year, not too long after I got her in March. I had found it very difficult to get her to bring her head down so pretty much stopped trying and let her go round like a giraffe ..

She had a break from August to February and since then I've tried harder with her. We had a lesson with Tanya Larrigan, who helped me with getting her to accept the bit more and so I've been working on that, and now look!

We've still got a long way to go as she is very inconsistent in doing this but I'm sure we'll get there soon :) Thanks for looking

She's looking lots better :D

I can sympathise completely - my TB was very giraffe-like at times but with consistent schooling he's become so much better - it just takes time and patience.

Keep up the good work!

Fantastoc! I know what it is like to have a giraffe for a horse and how difficult it is to teach them to work down...So well done you and Ethel!

Thank you everyone :)

Dafthoss - I'm thinking of taking her to a few dressage tests at the dressage yard down the road, just to help a bit with her schooling. I want to have some more lessons and start doing some jumping and few small jumping shows, but eventually I want to do eventing with her :) She turned 4 in April so still only a baby so I'm not going to rush her but in time I think she'll be a good little eventer, she's very bold and has got a nice jump on her, has jumped some coloured poles and a jump someone made out of logs and branches from a tree and didn't even look at it. I have high hopes for her :)
