I currently have a 4x4 for towing the trailer which I also use for everyday driving. With the cost of diesel going through the roof I've been looking at some other options. I've been offered a small run around car which I would use everyday and leave the 4x4 on the drive and use just for towing. The problem with this is the cost of insurance for two separate policies. Can anyone recommend any companies which do limited mileage policies? or any other ways of getting the insurance a little cheaper?
Thanks!

You should be able to get it cheaper if you set up a policy for the car then once this is done call up and set up a second policy for the 4x4. Most companies now offer a multi product discount so you would get the 4x4 slightly cheaper (it would most likely be the most expensive to insure). You probably wont be able to do both online as it wont pick up your details to get the discount on the second policy. Also something else to remember is that you might only be able to use your no claims bonus on one car sop might be worth setting up the other policy in partners name etc? I am not aware of any low mileage type policies and I work in insurance but might be worth some google research!!!

Norwich Union do a policy called Pay as You Drive. This does as it says on the tin. They install a satallite box in your car and it only charges you for the amount you use your car. This has cut friends car insurance down to a third of what it was and she is in a similar situation to you.
