A question about gaiters

I got my first pair of gaiters, Galway Tredstep gaiters to be exact, but I've got a problem. I think I ordered them in a size (in height) too big but I'm not sure since I've never had gaiters before.
They're really high at the bend of the knee but I'm not sure if that's normal because I hear that after breaking gaiters in apparently they drop in height a bit.

So anybody know how you know if your gaiters are the perfect fit?

I think if they dig in when you bend your knee they are probably too tall.
I bought mine in a saddlers and the assistant got me to get a pair that are quite tight but dont dig in when I bend knee. I dont think they have dropped, though mine are Ariats
