A Question About Grackles

Right then, I've decided i'm going to put Sir in a grackle for 'exciting' work ( jumping , xc , hunting, hacking etc) because last night not for the first time he really set his jaw and took off with me. He is currently in a half cheek snaffle, and i would like to keep him in this , my bridle is a cavesson with a flash which I use, can i just buy a grackle noseband and put it on my cavesson or do i have to buy a whole new bridle? If so where can I buy a relativley cheap grackle?

I have seen just grackle nosebands for sale but you'll have to have a hunt around. try ebay or equestrian clearence

yes you can just take the cavesson off and replace it with a grakle. you should be able to pick on eup fairly cheap on ebay

One question - what sort of bit do you use?

A grackle can change the action of a bit.
Also - please make sure you fit it properly if you have never used one before - so many people fit them too low.

lol yeah i've seen grackles in eyes and grackles fitted as flashes.....

You could always try stealing one off someone from your yard. This is what happened to me

But seriously, you can def buy them seperately, I bought mine at Olympia.

i got mine from our tack shop for £6.99 kincade one really decent dunt look bad with stubben bridle

You can buy grackles but I had to buy oscar a cob size bridle so brought a grackle and then a cheap hunter and flash noseband.....

I bought a cheapy one on its own from a tackshop for about £5! I only use one for hacking so didnt need an expensive one, all you do is take off the cavesson. I did have to get my YO to help me fit it though!
