A question for those who clip off feather

Hi

I have just given my very hairy horse his second clip of the season (yikes!)

The first one was a full clip, hogged, feather off, the lot and he looks awesome!

For his second one I have given him a blanket clip, and have still taken off the whole of his legs, but I would like to let his legs grow back but keep his feather off if you see what I mean (less to clip that way!)

So, my question is, when you clip off your feather, but leave the legs on how do you do it? Feather off down the back of the legs, but what about round the front and insides of his legs and round the hooves? Do you just take all that off too? I hate trying to clip down the insides of his legs! Or do you just take off the back bits and tidy up round the hooves and fetlocks etc and then blend it in with the hairy knees!?

I have done many variations when clipping cobs, if you want to leave the front on his legs just go inside the fetlocks about 1/3 of the way and then into the heel area,you can then trim round the coronary band if you want a tidy finish , you can also do up the pastern to the start of the fetlock joint.
I also sometimes clip all the way down the back from the elbow,this stops them looking tied in at the back of the knee if they are very hairy.

I have just done my coblet - I clipped the whole leg from hoof up to mid cannon bone. Then turned the clippers so they were facing downwards and sort of skimmed over his legs from knee down. He has 4 white socks so the "join" was hidden in the join of the colours if that makes sense! I then clipped downwards down the back of the leg from just above back of knee downwards too to take all that fluffyness out.
 
I use trimmers with grades on them, I can do a very good job of clipping feathers and making it look like the horse doesn't have any. :D
 
My lad has his feathers off all year. I just whiz then all right off. When he was clipped last week I left the top off his legs on but it looked awful so went back the day after and clipped the lot. He looker much better completely naked. Personal preference I suppose
