My paddock needs harrowing and my local guy has quoted me £65 to do it. I thought it might be a better investment to buy a small set of harrows to pull behind the ride-on. Budget is limited, where would be the best place to look for some, ebay? Would chain or the zigzag spike ones be better or does it make no difference?
Many thanks!

Chain harrows would be suitable, I have seen them on ebay for around £120. You do need to think about where you are going to store them, though, as they are a hazard left on the ground. We winch ours up high on the side of the barn.

I find the chain harrow better than a grass/zigzag harrow, I pull 10ft harrow behind a 4x4. Your best bet for buying one is either e-bay or agricultural/dispersal sales - look for those in your local agricultural estate agent :)

I second what martlin said, you could also ask local farmers if they have any 'old' equipment lying around in a 'graveyard' somewhere. That's how I got hold of my chain harrow and roller, the farmer had upgraded to some nice new shiny stuff and we met up at just the right time :D (i.e. before he phoned the scrap man!!!!)
