Hi...
My 15 year old mare lives out in a mixed herd of 4. For the purposes of this I will name the horses A,B,C, and X

Horse A - 25 year old mare
Horse B- 15 year old gelding my mares best friend
Horse C- 8 year old gelding

Horse X- 6 year old Gelding

Last week horse C gets swapped for various reasons with horse X. Horse X has been out with my mare a few months ago but when she first arrived and only for a couple of days. Horse X has apparently been seen mounting my mare and she has a couple of bite marks on her. Horse B has been pushed right out of the equasion and my mare seems to prefer horse X.

She came in yesterday with a really dirty back end where she walks past, stops and squirts at horse X all the time. She has small cuts either side of her fairy that are long and thin and roughly 3/4 cm long. They are not at all deep just a bit red, she is fine with me treating them.

She is fine to be handled and ridden etc all through her seasons the only difference I notice is that she tries to squirt on my head when I go to pick her back feet out :s

Horse X cannot be moved back into the field he was in, I was just going to ask for some advice really... Do I wait for this season to finnish and just sit it out... She can stick up for herself but I dont like the thought of her being forced into things?! I just think he is young and the novelty of her will wear off hopefully he is generally well behaved in the field with other horses. Any suggestions thankyou for reading
