Well, I have possibly the most un-horsey hubby ever, yet, with minimum rolling eyes and muttered comments, through the years he's learned to muck out, and do bits - even, on rare occasion, got on the Beast and my old girl when we had her... even when we were down to our bare last, and couldn't afford anything other than the bare essentials, he sold his car to let me keep my horses.. he saved up to have Beast sent away after breaking, he bought me stuff... and I love him. He goes up for vet visits when I'm at work, he puts up with the rest of my menagerie - that he didn't want anyway...Yesterday no exception, duly toddled off to the yard, brought my beloved lad in for a good brush, pick his feet out etc...So why oh why did that ungrateful wretch of a (newly 1st time shod) HUGE nag stomp on his foot?? My poor lovely hubby has a bruise the size of Mongolia. Pretty sure he has broken one or more bones (he's refused to go to A&E), he can hardly walk...and he's just made me a cup of tea. Gosh I love him!

But I had to giggle when he called me to tell me....

Apparently P was very apologetic, and had been stamping to shake off a fly... hind foot too... OUCH! (Lesson for him not to go to the yard in sandals I think!)

Well done him - and you for saying it! I think the helpful non-horsy OHs deserve a lot of credit for doing something that really isn't their idea of fun...

Mine is similar - he has learned to do some basic things but on the whole comes to the yard more to distribute carrots and get cuddles than anything else. But he loves the boys (and they adore him), and I couldn't do without his support whenever they make me mad!

I was up the yard with OH a while ago and turned my back to him for a sec, when I next spotted him, Bellerina had a bit in her mouth, all the other bridle straps were tangled in his hand and he had a very confuzzled look on his face

! Belle was essentially leading him across the yard by her bit, would have been funny had I not had to then recover loose horse, untangle bridle and then re-tack up

Hi S.

Your OH sounds a treasure - they just start to get involved then the neds do something to put them off (be it intentional or otherwise) perhaps they want us all to themselves! lol.

The one day my OH didn't wear his toe-tectors around Jess she stomped on his foot! Needless to say, he doesn't go to see her much now!
