Well we went to see three of the horses we mentioned today - mainly to get a feel for the market and to see if we could find out what Abby really wanted.

The first was the 16.2 grey which was absolutely gorgeous - but Abby felt he was too big and maybe a little too much horse.

The second was the bay mare - who was just not right and also refused the jumps a lot when ridden by her owner.

Then we went to see the third - this was the bay gelding who was only shown in a field. I had a good feeling about this one - thinking maybe it was a hidden gem.

Well both the girls fell it love with him and we are going back in a week to try him out round a set of jumps - the owner is hiring an arena.

He is called Majic B and was owned by his breeder till he was seven. Before he was sold he had five double clears at novice and went to the regionals where he came fifth.

Since then he has had two owners - one who just did local showing with him and the people who own him now who have not done much with him.

He is a WBxID and his sire is Worarry and his dam Tara.

That sounds good, find out what his BSJA name was as there has never been a Majic B registered with them. Ask to see a copy of his print out, or phone up the BSJA and ask them what he has done/double clears, they will read his record out for you over the phone.

Sorry - I got his name wrong - it is b majic and we have his results

As I say - he has not done anything since he was with his breeders. I know there can be lots of reasons why - which would put someone off - but he seems very genuine. I have the name of his breeder as well.

I don't know what it is about that picture, but they both look so right together somehow.

Good luck when you go back and try him around some fences.

They look very happy together and he is the right size for her. I have my fingers crossed that they both still like each other round a course of jumps.

That's exactly what Abby said - they felt right together - and Jenny my oldest, who tried him first, felt he was a lovely pony - very responsive.

Good luck, it's never easy looking for a new horse, but they do look good together in the photo. Do you know why the latest owners have not done very much with him ?.

Yes - we really like him a lot - but are going to be sensible and take him round a strange course - so we see how he does. He doesn't have to be perfect - but he needs to not go oh no jumps and run away!!

Nuala - are you buying another new horse then? Which pony did you finally decide on then if any? We've been looking for ages!

We decided against a pony. One of the ones we tried threw Abby off and she broke her collarbone - so we had to put our search on hold. As she is 15 and has missed most of the summer - we decided to go on to horses instead

Is this the one photographed from the field? I thought that was odd; maybe the owners have confidence issues. He has a good record, but it is strange that there is a gap in it. Is there any medical reason for so much time away from jumping? He is a lovely looking horse and a perfect size.

Looks lovely - I echo sootys comments, perhaps a good vetting is in order. I do wish you and your girls luck though, buying a horse after ponies is so hard.

She looks lovely - but we have decided on a horse - given that Abby will not really be completing now until the winter season and she will be sixteen in March.

Whilst she is not tall (between 5 4 and 5 5) she did look much better on the 15 3!
