Further to Alec's original post...

My Dears, there's been precious little, of late, from;
Rosiefronfelan.
Paddyduo,
Simsar,
Judgemental.
JenHunt and her OH, Mrs. George, C_C and East Kent, have appeared, but I was just wondering how you all are.
........
Anyway, I'd welcome your news. Particularly, news of the dear Rosie.
Alec.

I was wondering how everyone was, what you've all been up to, and to let you all know that I've just put a post in PG with some photos of the white rose way, and me having a gallop bareback on Ron.

I was due, as you all know, to do the white rose way with OH and some friends, but I have been let down by my own ability (or is that inability) to walk normally - I managed to slip and split my big toenail in half, causing me to walk in a particularly special manner, which has in turn triggered a really bad attack of Plantar Fascitis, which was already a bit sensitive owing to slithering about in mud a fortnight ago whilst doing a 15miler in the dales....

anyway - link is http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=472536

Cool pics, glad there wasn't one of your toe!

Busy old time here - took hounds to Peterborough on Wednesday and was delighted to take the Reserve Championship with our unentered bitch, Baffle. Huntsman ran out of arms and had to start pinning rosettes onto my shirt instead. Lots of silver gone home to Essex.

It was then straight off to the CLA Gamefair for a weekend of camping, drinking and country sports. Great fun and the weather was relatively kind to us. Many members of the Fitzwilliam Young Entry were having their first trip up to the gamefair but Aunty Combat was on hand to assist with tent pitching!

One week off and then I am heading down to Exmoor via the West of England Hound Show.

I'm breaking in our 3 yr old (bought from Maesfan on here) and hoping he will be ready to meet the hounds in September before i turn him away for the winter. Cobs are all fat so plenty of work to get all of us fit for the season :) New lorry is now ready for use and OH has fitted cctv as it isnt cut through like the old one. we are showing at Thame on Saturday if anyone wants to cheer us along/point and laugh :D

Hi Jen

I have been making jam and sorting out stuff in my new job, washing shetland ponies and teaching a four year old! She has done so well and even had a go on Pads on Tuesday! In four/ five months she has gone from being terrified to bossing them all about and getting stuck in. The little mite manged to do a rising trot with out holding on, all on her own (Bless Pads for going so steady for her, he was so good!). She is only the same size as his head! I don't think he even knew she was kicking on! Thank goodness for soft mouths.

Oh and I have started riding the old boy (Pads) again which is just the best in the world! Am looking forward to us both getting a bit fitter and continuing to toddle about together.

Other than that I have been slouching about in Soap box talking about nonsense.

Glad to hear all is well and loving your pictures! Hope your toe gets better soon - OWCH!

Wish I could ride the old boy bare back... He is FAR to sharp on the old back bone despite looking wide! Looks so much fun!

I'm so sorry to hear this, Rosie. You're right, life can be **** at times. You wont give in, you're a trooper, we all know that and good for you! ;)

Lovely pics, Jen, as always.

Padds, I've twice had a go at making jam, the first time it was rather like a thin syrup, and at the second attempt, it was carve-able! I know when I'm beaten!!

How's life here? In a word, difficult! My friend and mother in law died yesterday. My father in law is devastated. He's now in his mid 70s and faces life without the only woman who he's ever known. The rows between them were spectacular, and sometimes very funny, despite the fact that they adored each other! Rest in peace, Sylvia.

Horses? Well, we have a foal with what started out as a modest field injury (a slice down the back of it's foreleg), who's been on box rest for the last 3 months, and now has his leg in a plaster cast. Proud flesh seems to grow like a mushroom, and there seems to be no progress, what-so-ever. My vet seems determined to keep going, but I suspect that we are reaching the end of the road for him.

We have a rather strange foal, who much to my surprise seems to be making some progress. She's an ET foal, and her "dam" is quite vile to her. The foal has several nasty cuts, from being kicked by the wretched mare, and I suspect that an early weaning's on the cards.

Apart from all that, life's a breeze!! :D

Alec, sorry to hear your sad news, its desperate to lose a family member. Your foaling situation doesn't sound to good either, rather sad. Our 3 month old is growing by the day \and her mother is doing her well but young'un has taken to our rather gross hunter which will have to come in once the silage/haylage is in. My new meds. aren't working so doc. was out yesterday to discuss stronger things, ugh, but as you say i have to battle on for the sake of myself and everyone else, and as you also say, apart from that, life's a breeze---

Agh - you can tell its out of season can't you. Foals and Rosies getting ill. Alec there are no words. Poor Mrs S too she must be so upset at the loss of her Mum.

Life simply isn't fair sometimes is it. I keep having words with his Godship but I think he has learnt to be selectivly deaf to my rantings. Will carry on in the hope that he gives in and passes soe nicer days to both of you.

Thinking of you all and as always lots of love.

Well folks ,did some retail therapy of my style today! Bought myself a trio of white crested runner ducks,a trio of white silkies and a trio of guinea fowl. Also been busy getting hatchings done to re-create the flock of Maran chooks we had 30 years ago..they of the choccy brown eggs. Anyway ,we now have a starter flock again.Crested ducks? Well I saw them once on a pond up near Bunny in Leics, hunting at the time, but did a double take at these wierd and wonderful ducks.
Our foal continues to grow, she is dun like her Highland Mama, but has the white eye ring and stripey hooves of her Papa,a 16.2 Appie. She is also incredibly fast.
I do wish you well Rosie, I really do ,life is bloody vile sometimes.

Argh EK what is it with Runners at the moment! OH desperately wants some! I say no more pets until we are more stable and settled. Thats my excuse anyway!

Love your idea of retail therapy! Far better than town shopping!
