A rug with a full neck that actually covers the full neck?!

I have seen people talk on here about the different brands of rugs being better for broader horses, shorter backed horses etc.
So, can anyone suggest a brand of rug that tend to have long necks.
I have a very long TB and his current Weatherbeeta full neck rugs only cover half his neck. I want one that goes up to his ears!

I love Weatherbeeta, my scranny two year has a full neck one on but because his neck is so thin it concertinas down to his withers - that's no the fault of the rug though! Their newer ones have a fleece cuff maybe that would keep it further up.

Not sure if they are made in the same way at the other end of the scale but Shires Tempest rugs reach my shetlands ears and then some. Thats in 5ft rugs, not sure if they are styled the same for a big tb :D

agree i find weather betas and also mastas necks come up quite short on both my horses. i think premier equine necks are the best, actually seem to cover their necks when grazing and slightly ruffled near their ears to keep the draft out!

I got my boy a masta heavy weight coz the neck looked massive on it! and it really is! right up to his ears

youll have to excuse the way it looks, I just chucked it to to check the length, he wasn't impressed, it was warm out

I recently bought a Gallop combo turnout for my horse. Like you I found that other brands of rug only came halfway up his neck but this is the first rug that comes up to his ears ..... actually, it goes past them :)

I know what you mean about the Weatherbeetas only covering half the neck (less if it's windy!)
Agree that Premier Equine rugs have brilliant necks, a really good length and they don't slip down like other brands.

Mark Todd (also JHL too I believe) have long neck covers, they actually have extra fabric at the withers so when the horse has its head down eating the neck cover doesn't ride halfway up the neck.
I have a MT turn out and the neck cover design is one of the main reason I bought it, it comes right up to my mares ears even when her head is down!

Another vote for mark todd, never seen a rug with neck fit so well. It is fits excellently both when head up and head down..and fits in all areas, not just neck :-)

My old lad had a mark todd and I did occasionally find him with both ears tucked inside the neck! PE are ok but I prefer the MT necks (just wish I could morph the 2 to have the neck and front fastenings of the MT rug and the durability and waterproofness of the PE!)

I find the Weatherbeeta's with the detachable beck covers come up longer. I've got a large neck cover for my 16hh and its way too long (it blinds him when he grazes so cant use it on him)! Its very high up on my 17.1hh too! I dont know what the XL would fit!

I make the neck part a much baggier fit by putting a puppy collar, done up on the last hole or whatever length needed, through the metal loop. I then use the collar for the velcro strap to loop through not the metal loop. I leave the collar on permanently so life is simple. I always check the tightness of the neck part of a new rug, on the throat, when the horse has his head right down grazing & adjust the puppy collar to suit so it's not too tight. It's stops rubbing for me. Mustbe done on both closures ! When the rug is attached to a head collar it's stop the tightness, improves fit helping the rug stay up & not ruck

Premier Equine are nowhere NEAR reaching my horses ears. Way off down his neck. He's never had a PE with a removable neck but maybe those are less skimpy, but the combo neck is certainly not all that.
Mastas are also short on him. Those are the only 2 brands of neck rug he's had.

My horse tucks her ears in too! So does her TB neighbour who has a MT stable rug!
:-)
