As a few of you would know i put my boy Bennson on loan last november (boys in sig) due to yard from hell/no transport and pregnant with my 3rd child, it broke my heart to do it but it was best for him and the woman was lovely.

i got a random email from her asking if she could have him long term as hes the horse for her and if i would consider selling.

Now after much though i had decided that i wasnt going to take him back till i was in full time work which with 6 month old and 2 yr old is going to be a while so ive decided to sell him on the condition i get first refusal and im kept updated :) so my lovely boy is now sold im going up next week to see him and ofc get the cash and drop off passport.

Not all loan situation are bad there are still some good people out there

Really going to miss him but its better for him as hes so happy/ spoilt there

I agree that there ARE fantastic loan homes out there - I ended up selling my mare to her loaner so I know what you are going through. She was (and still is!) getting the BEST care and is very, very loved. Because of the loaning-first part, it meant we developed a relationship/friendship so even though my mare went three years ago but we still keep in touch and I even visit occasionally. Cherry is 19 now and still going strong and I know she has a home for life there....

Aww big hugs but you seem to know that it's in Benson's interest especially if he's happy and being loved etc...

I had Merls on loan before I ended up buying him as I couldn't bear to have had him taken back it was the best thing ever and I still speak to his last owner.

I had my mare on loan first of all and then brought her 6 months later. We loaners are not all bad.
Her previous owner is really happy that she has come to a good home. I've always made sure that she is kept up to date even nearly 3 years later and always ask her to come for a ride if she wants to.

i was scared to put him out on loan you hear all these horror stories, but woman that has him has kept me informed sent pictures and shes had him a year end of November, he gets on great with her the have really clicked so as much as i would like him back hes better off with her and her other 3

hard decision but the right one, i will get another one in a few years
