A sad end to my search

I decided to Google the sire and dam of my mare yesterday. I was curious to learn more about them and see if she looked anything like them.

I found quite a bit of background and some pictures too, which was nice. The pictures show both her sire and dam in their prime of life. Sadly they are no longer living.

My mare, NL Alhadiye (Ali for short), was bred ten years ago here in Ireland. Her dam was sold to a stud farm in England some years later. She was HT Nyvada, and died this summer.
Her sire was the late Dakshah, of High Tor Arabians.

It was poignant; a window into my mare's past. It hadn't occurred to me that they might be dead. She has her dam's colouring, with the same pale coat and darker mane and tail. But I can see her sire in her too.

I am going to give her a really good grooming session on Saturday morning and take a few pictures before she cakes herself in muck again that afternoon. Hope to post them by Sunday. I do have a couple of her on my OH's computer. If I'm lucky, he might put them up later tonight...

I have also seen pictures of several other of her relatives, including a half brother who is currently for sale in Scotland...if I had the money, I'd buy him. But it's nice to see them all.

Think I'll have a cuppa now...

It is a shame that you caught up with them just too late. Your mare is certainly well bred, in fact there are some stunners in there! I saw Maleik El Kheil many years ago at the Maxwells and he was absolutely gorgeous. Ghadames (Spanish) produced some lovely horses and that Kazra, Muzri, Muneera line is to die for.

My mare shares your horse's lines through General Grant (a very affectionate and steady line :)) and my gelding is related through Indriss (a strong minded line ).

If you post on Arabianlines you should get some interesting replies. :)

I look forward to seeing some photos of your mare!

Lol, that is Ali to a T: very affectionate, steady under saddle but strong minded on the ground - especially if it's blustery!
I found some of the info regarding her parents on Arabianlines. I do intend to post there too though.
Do yours obsess over their food too, by any chance? Ali is an eating machine, bless her!
