My big eventer has sold. I’ve never felt so nauseous about selling on a horse as this one but am as sure as I can be he is going to a great home.

It’s been a crazy few days I have to say with an influx of buyers this week (what is all that about???) but I will soon be one of them to because there is now another horse buyer on the market ?

One special boy and quite possibly my last riding horse as I’m seriously contemplating giving up riding9CFA1F66-28A0-4829-AEFD-868FBD1DF17C.jpeg

Giving up riding (not horses) just because I’m not really enjoying the whole thing, my back just can’t really take it and I’ve just got too fat and physically crock to be riding the types of horse I want to ride - it’s not fair on them.
I might well hack out on a friends now and again, but for now I think I will get more out of ownership and am hoping to buy a nice young filly as a future breeding prospect, and to give me something to do more cheaply!

I'm sure he will be well looked after and cherished in his new home. He must be a very special horse. It's still hard to see them go though.

Oooooo, buy a nice chonky filly of some sort and breed some nice ordinary (but quality) horses for ordinary riding club homes... someone needs to be doing that!

Or buy a herd of welsh As and learn to drive like 6 in hand or something. Preferably pulling a chariot.

I will miss hearing about the big horse, he was special and you must be pleased he is going to what sounds like the ideal home, I am not surprised you were inundated with potential buyers he has been extremely well produced throughout his time with you, you have done a great job, even if you were not the main rider finding the right one requires skill.

Sorry to read that he's going but great news that you've found such a perfect sounding set up for him.

I'll be sorry not to read any more of his reports. Your young boy has big horse shoes to fill!

Good luck shopping for your next one

Sounds like he’s got an exciting future ahead of him, and no doubt you can follow his career . Which makes it all worthwhile !

I have just sold my big youngster. Probabely the best horse I have ever owned and will ever own, and such a nice personality. Like you I have tried to find someone who has the knowledge to do things with him, but I almost cried when I saw him in the trailer. It makes me laugh when people go on about sellers, because it far harder emotionly to sell one than to buy one.

Random little update because despite him not being mine anymore I’m a secret admirer (? Stalker 😆) from afar and have a weird sense of pride following him.

He has taught his new owner all about Eventing. Tried to die at one point by the sounds of it - they nursed him back to health - won their first BE on the comeback and then best of all recently jumped around a novice (the trainer said would only want PN max!).

Proud IHW/ex-owner/stalker/#1fan ❤️
