On 8th January 2011 right after Christmas, i walked up to the hole in the wall in Tescos car park and emptied my bank account of my last £250, i then got in a hired a horse box and drove over 80 miles to collect my horse of a lifetime which had found herself in unfortunate circumstances... The story to this point goes like this, In 2009 I sold my mare to a friend of a friend, a "forever home" following a tendon injury and change in my circumstances, this "friend" turned out to be a dealer who sold her on within a month, devastated I contacted weatherbys which returned no results and i assumed the worst... I regretted my decision to sell her every day and imagined her in the worst situations, after about my 4th phone call i wrote weatherbys a letter which they attached to her file to forward to her owner should she ever be reregistered - On 8th January out of the blue i received an email from her owner who was lovely but had tragic circumstances herself and the rest is as above!!! She arrived in fairly poor condition and was pretty difficult to start with (breaking head collars, rearing up when being brought in and kicking out when grooming - maybe it was just the move, maybe not) - she was NOT the horse i remembered and I felt I had remembered my time with her through rose tinted glasses, for the first 4 weeks i wondered if i had done the right thing, but by the end of January we were ready for our first outing.....

Look at her now an 11 year old 15.1hh powerhouse our first show is this bank holiday Monday (ex-racers class), we wont win (she got kicked in the field so has hoof shaped patch of hair missing on her hip), but Im so proud of her anyway I just want to show her of - she really is my horse of a life time and tears are welling up in my eyes just thinking about her, I have promised her she will never be sold again she has a home for life if my circumstances change I will loan her but she will always belong to me.
Would love to hear your thoughts on my mare good and bad
