that in spite of the fact we nearly all think she deserves what she got, that we could move past the subject of AT and keep all the positive things in mind. like for example that because of the cleverness of the course designer and the skill of the riders and grooms there have been no serious or fatal accidents at this games and therefore there is much more likelihood eventing will make it to 2012 despite concerted opposition from other parties.
the cross country has had influence on the scores. i dont think anyone could argue with the current standings. those that have performed the best all round, are in the lead so far.
nothing will bring the horse back and she will never live it down as long as she lives, it will colour her life forever and that is a pretty big punishment.
i was as happy as anyone when she bit the dust and the horse walked away but some of the threads since are a little unnessecary IMO. its starting to make the sport and its supporters look bad.

Well said Lucretia, couldn't agree more

In my eyes it was a brilliant advert for eventing and also xc phase has rewarded good, clever and brave - rider and horses. Will not end up being a dressage competetion

Let hope sj does same shakes it up at bit and Old Cavvy does a foot prefect round with Mary on board

Agree completely, from what gonetofrance posted on the Xc thread further down it seems that all the riders got home safely and only one horse was injured, and that not *too* seriously considering. All good for the sport. Let's please concentrate on the positives and look forward to the rest of the competition.

I completely agree Lucretia, I'm just glad she and her horse are unscathed, and can't feel the same need to join the hurray brigade.
I'm still open minded as to whether she deliberately rode her previous horse to injury or was unsure of what was going on, therefore I can't celebrate when she falls off.
What if she'd died? Would that satisfy the bloodlust?
I'm not a fan by the way, but it sits uneasily that so many people are posting such comments.

I have to say, we more than likely all agree that what AT did last year was beyond belief, I don't think she has many fans left, if any. I agree, everyone needs to now move on. She will never get any support from me, but I don't feel the need to continuosly slag her off.

Amy who????????????

Well said!
It was brilliant XC and of course people fell off!
everyone falls off! it just happened to be that the more controversial riders did happen too hit he deck!
lets hope for some brilliant SJ.

On a slightly different note... who else is seriously excited for 4/5/6years time to see what the Little Brit/J.Mail babies turn out like!!

Also, Minors Frolic.. i know there was a fuss being made about him before, but i'd never really seen him in action.. what a freak of a horse!!

totally awesome

I don't see why we can't do both - sure we can praise the positives and look forward to a bright future for eventing, but there are many people who will not be able to forget what AT did. Hopefully the fact that so many people DO remember and won't brush the episode under the carpet will help to ensure that similar incidents do not occur again, which can only be a GOOD thing for the sport of eventing.

if "the sport" as a whole..by that i mean the powers that be, from the spineless USA team manager to the FEI ..had the bollox to impose a suitable ban on this competitor, then all the hullabaloo would have been avoided.

the contradictory attidudes of some forum members today has amazed me TBH....

Well, maybe its good to keep yourselves in the good books of the eventing fraternity, brown noses might get better jobs...

Fair enough its good that everyone got round safely, riders and horses, but why should we forget that poor horse like she has?

Can't see why she gets all these chances if she's so blatantly awful... LS never got the benefit of a second chance and how terrible an epitaph for him if we all say ah well, move on, who cares?
