Those of you who answerd my plea earlier in the week for positive vibes will be pleased to know they worked, and some!
So before I go any further, thank you a hundred times over - you good people know who you are!

So, I'll try to keep this short, as it was a bit of an adventure which took three days to complete. On Monday, OH and I drove down to Baden-Würrtemberg to get Merlin ready for his move to join us in our new surroundings in Niedersachsen. (A round trip of 1,175kms.) Tuesday saw us packing away his belongings and making sure the marathon cart was also ready to go on the lorry. The lorry arrived at just after 9 on Wednesday morning, cart went on (huge sigh of relief here- just 2cms to spare between cart and ramp of lorry!
), Merls trunk and a few other bits, and then finally he loaded with no bother at all. Straight up the ramp, like he does it every day! Man, I love this little horse!
Have to also say I caught YO shedding a quick tear into Merl's mane before he went on the lorry.......Merls was his first livery and had been there through some very difficult times........
The lorry arrived at the new yard at 7 that evening, having made two stops for water, which left Vladi, the lorry driver, damp around the edges. Apparantly Merls much preferred playing with his water than drinking it.........
Got him settled in his new stable, complete with a huge pile of hay and his evening meal, which he polished off with much gusto. Then I went home and fell into bed.............
I went to see him on Thursday, just to make sure he overnighted OK, and left him in complete peace and quiet yesterday. Went to the yard to today, and new YO said he thought it was probably a good time to introduce Merls to the herd (only 7 horses in total on the yard) as he'd been looking longingly over the fence at them. That passed off without much bother either - once round the field at full pelt, a quick roll, a nibble of hay, another hooley around the field, another roll, then settled to yet more noshing..........
And that is just about it! I spent the last 6 weeks worrying myself silly about this, convinced that something horrific would go wrong. What an idiot!

So, thanks, again, to those who sent good wishes. They were very much appreciated!
And now I must get to grips with sorting a new siggy .........*wanders off, scratching head*
