One of my 2 horses has to wear a headcollar out in the field as he is such a toad to catch (eg 25 mins in the pouring rain this evening, but that's another story....).

He is wearing one of those Aerborn fieldsafe ones with the rubber breakable rings.

Twice I have gone out to check them and found him with the noseband in his mouth like a bit

but couldn't work out how it had happened. The headcollar is well adjusted and you have to take it off to get it out of his mouth so not easy to see how he could do it.

Tonight I found out... My other horse sidled up and grabbed it in her mouth, pulls it really hard so the rubber rings are stretched to the max and then let's go! Sometimes it smacks him hard on the nose, sometimes she gets the angle right, like tonight, and it smacks him in the gob.

Poor old boy he looks so p*ssed off standing there! I wondered why he was getting 'headshy' about his headcollar!

Very funny to watch though!

she looked so pleased with herself and cantered off fly bucking after she had done it

I think its revenge for all the bites he does on her poor old bum!

Don't feel too sorry for him littledonkey he made me trail after him in torrential rain this evening and only when he realised I had given up and was walking up the field shouting "go on then bl00dy freeze, see if I care" that he followed me up to the gate and let me catch him.

But yes I think a new non-elasticsted headcollar is on the shopping list tomorrow!

Brilliant Oldmare - can't wait to see the video! Aerborn fieldsafe headcollars are the only ones I would turn a horse out unsupervised in. Terrible, tragic disasters can happen with webbing headcollars so take care buying a new one for your ned. He may be a toad but at least he's a live toad lol! x
