A strange sort of stretch

Just writing this more out of curiosity than anything else. My horse did the strangest thing in her stable. She was having a one-leg-cocked doze when she 'woke up' and lifted her neck right up and arched her head down and lifted her back up into an arch - reminded me a bit of a cat having a good old stretch. Has anyone else seen their horse do this before? She proceeded to then lie down and have a 'proper' snooze. All a bit strange really. (and bizarre as I heard a few bones clicking, so assume she has saved me a visit from the chiropractor)

Yes mine have stretched like that, also the dog style stretch too where they stretch the front legs out and down.

Mine do some mad stretches. The most frequent cat stretch and ballet stretch. Ballet stretch is head and neck arched and pushed up into the arch and one back leg pointed straight out behind. Cat stretch is self-explanatory.

I also enjoy when they scratch an ear with a back hoof.

I have one that does all the stretches others have mentioned: Dog,cat, ballet, if he is lying down he will sometimes stretch al four legs out straight before getting up.

Yes mine have stretched like that, also the dog style stretch too where they stretch the front legs out and down.

My gelding does the arch stretch as op describes before transitioning like a yoga pro into this!

Yes, have seen a number of horses do this when waking up.

He also likes to stretch his front legs when the trimmer brings one forward to put on her stand. At first she thought he was trying to take his hoof away, but then realized he was going for a stretch.

The old girl does all the above stretches...younger one doesn’t expend anymore effort than she needs to....

Mine does this when he gets up from a sleep, then stretches his back legs out for good measure, I'm not sure if he always does the leg stretches or if that's just a delaying tactic against doing any form of work

Mine does the same stretch. He does quite a few strange ones, as did my old mare. It seems to be a thing with some of them.
