Two horses ridden today, one for the second time, one for the first. I didn't get scared of or come off either so I think that makes it successful!
These are two of the horses I'll be exercising. The first is Shot, a 13 year old ex racer who I hacked out on today, he is strong but not overly silly, totally traffic proof! We had everything today, cars, buses, bikes and tractors! No tanks though, although the area we rode on is used by the army! You sort of have to run him into the back of the other horse you go out with as otherwise he'll probably disappear into the distance but as long as he has his friend he's fine! We had a canter and he was really strong but only had a little silly dance at the beginning and then was fine. So I felt fine taking him out which is good!
And then I had a mad dash back to ride the second horse, Petal, who is a 6 year old cobby type ISH. Lovely looking mare but a bit nervous and a worrier. Her owner rode her first and she tends to shoot off if she's worried and just needs to be told it's okay and to get confidence from her rider. Once she relaxes she goes really nicely and has a lovely trot, I didn't canter her as she's hardly been worked over the winter and was out of puff with the little bit of work we did! Apparently she hacks out really well but is scared of water so that's something to work on.
So I'm looking forward to riding these two in the future! They both have great potential to go really well so it should be good.
