I do appreciate that a lot of people are struggling to pay for their horses 'thro the winter especially with hay prices this year.

Maybe if we gave token presents for christmas instead of expensive ones we could make the difference for buying hay. It would also bring back the true spirit of christmas.

I am not religious but do feel the whole christmas thing has got out of hand.

oh I totally agree! commercialism gone mad!

where I worked, instead of buying each other presents, we all donated to an Animal Charity!

A few years back I was totally broke as in going without food every couple of days, no shoes without massive holes in the soles etc etc, horses and dogs still ate like kings and queens!

I made all my pressies. I made up boxes and shortbread buscuits, ginger buscuits then wrapped them in brown paper and decorated them with bits of holly that I picked out of the hedge rows. I spent about £20 total on ingrediants and bits to wrap. Then about £10 on cards that I picked up from various places cheaply (they were still nice ones and not your 200 for 50p jobs). Please bear in mind that I send well over 500 a year...!

It took forever to find everything and make it and I was exhausted but everyone said they were the best pressies ever and keep nagging at me to do more each year!

Christmas for me is really special, I love wrapping everything up beautifully and spoiling my loved ones. Its the joy of seeing someones face when they see a wonderfully wrapped pressie that someone has taken alot of time and effort over that makes it for me. I am known for my wrapping!!! In fact when I get a bigger house I think I might just have a whole room especially for wrapping! I have used all sorts to wrap, baler twine included!!
