I have a couple of Tristars but have just found out they're discontinued this year. Aside from the expensive Rambo option, can anyone recommend other turnout rugs with removeable liners I can can get for this winter? I'm after 6'6.

Many thanks :)

Ahhh, just been looking at that one. You wouldn't know if the liners would work with the Tristar and vice-versa would you?

I have recently bought a PE Buster Trio and have been chuffed to bits with it. Have worked my way up to the heavyweight liner and neck cover and have been able to put the grubby liners through the washing machine. I wish I had come across one of these years ago.

They are expensive initially but are cheaper than buying the equivalent rugs individually and cheaper with more liners than something like the Horsewear version.

Yeah, I must admit I much prefer having a decent outer shell with several liners I can change. Better than the usual 3 or 4 different rugs per horse!

How does the liner attach to the front of the Trio? Does it have velcro tabs which thread through metal tabs on the neck of the rug? Just wondered if I bought a couple of heavy Trio liners if they'd fit unside the couple of Tristar shell's I've got. Be nice if they would.

Yes there are two velcro tabs that sit either side of the wither at the front of the rug and two metal clips at the back which attach to metal tabs. There is a second tab next to it where the fillet string clips too.

They do indeed have velcro tabs that thread through metal loops, either side of the withers. Whether they are the right width to fit with the Tristar I don't know though. They also have clips to attach to the back where the fillet strap goes. I love my PE Buster Trios-highly recommend!

I have a duo and a tristar and the liners are not inter-changeable. The metal loops on the neck are slightly out of alignment. I am sure you could find someone who could move them though - someone who does rug repairs.

I use my Duo liners under any rug be it stable rug or turnout. Doesnt matter about attaching at the wither area of it, the liner stays in place as long as you secure the back corners with the clips to a ring on the outer rug. I like the Premier Equine rugs but they are heavy, especially when wet. Prefer my Rambo Duo of the two.

I have had the trio for about 2 years and I found that mine did not wear well at all. The lining ripped on one of them, and the velcro around one of the neck attachment frayed. I wouldnt buy them again (and certainly not at full price) but I liked the idea of having one rug with many options. The trio is very heavy though, even without the liners. I have other PE rugs and they have worn much better (but are older rugs).

I have used the PE liners with a WB turnout, and as said above, they dont move as long as you attach them at the back (the clips are in line with the d-rings at the back for the leg straps) and the turnout rug fits properly.
