blimmin youngsters...they really can try the patience of a saint!
took vandi in school today and put into practice advice from here the other day about walking him round with a rug on to try and stop the ariel hijinks when mounting...and it worked! yay! so now i know how i can get on him without lungeing
only problem is that this meant he was a bit hyper and had sewing machine legs- trotting around like a loon despite best efforts to do transitions and circles and stuff
he was also ultra spooky- but clearly because he was full of it- spooking theatrically at the letter A for example
at one point we actually nearly parted company- i think he spied someone in the distance daring to hitch up a trailer to a car- how dare they! cue rodeo bucks and attempted galloping away from scary trailer/car monster
i do hope nodoby witnessed my rather ungraceful attempt to stay on and then regain control
Problem on our yard is can only book arena in 30 min slots and somone was in after me so i had to come out without really having done much in the way of good work- altho legs were slightly slower and there was a little bit of bend happening.
so then took him down bridlepath for his 2nd solo outing and he was brilliant. let me do both gates mounted and then just stolled along like a pro
you would think he might have spooked at the cows in the field, the wind whipping through the trees etc etc...but NO!
what a strange little horse
TBF hhe's not been in field for two days so he can go out tomorrow morning before dressage lesson in the afternoon...!
