The most exciting news is he is almost sound. He's been off since November due to bad bruising in one of his feet. He's sound in a straight line, and if he'd calm down enough to actually circle, I might be able to tell. Trotting is currently very exciting, and tends to turn swiftly into leaping and bucking. He had an absolutely manic day last Monday, as he had Sunday off (*gasp!*), and he decided firmly he was not going to walk up the track to the top. There was rearing, bucking, and eventually a fair amount of pony club kicking when he began snacking on a convenient hillside during one of his tantrums.

I prevailed, and instead of hacking (which would probably end with me being thrown into on-coming traffic), I took him in the arena and he had two gaits: walk and extended trot. It was interesting! I kept yelling "Does he look sound?!" at my flatmate, and she kept yelling back "I can't tell, he doesn't seem to be touching the ground"

Today, he got clipped. It seemed ridiculous to be clipping for winter when it was 23C with 91% humidity. The other week, we reached a high of 12C. I'm not quite sure what the weather is doing, but Tally seemed to be preparing for hiberating in Alaska, so he is now nicely clipped. Strangely, he's impeccable to clip. He actually fell asleep when she was doing his face.

Tally in his muzzle, which he detests. The thistles are flowering at the moment, and he loves them. He got so frustrated when he realised he couldn't get the flowers, that he beat a thistle to death. I found a big hole with a tiny stalk poking out of the middle

Nicely clipped pony!

And looking longingly at what he is not allowed. Excuse the colour of his rug, it used to be ever so slightly more manly, but it faded.

Sadly, no photographer at the moment. I do have an old video of what he usually does. If he's in a really bad mood, he'll plant and tantrum from there, or if he's feeling evil, he spins as he leaps.

He is usually nice enough to have a spaz, then stop so you can crawl back into the saddle, retrieve your stirrups, and find your reins before he continues. He put on a fantastic set of acrobatics for a pair of international students when I took him out on Friday. He was behaving impeccably until he realised he had an audience
