Very very sad!

The do a brilliant job that none of us would be first in line to do.

They are going to be very very busy over the next few days as well.

My thoughts are with their families and colleagues.

My Dad is a firefighter ,they put their own lives on the line while trying to save others and my Dad has also had to put up with a lot of abuse from the general public while trying to save lives!
My thoughts are with their families and colleagues.

Yes ,my daughter and son in law are police officers and take a lot of flack but they have to face the people who frighten you, the drug addicts ,the insane, the cruel and the violent. I was driving yesterday and my daughter at work when I heard on the news about a west midlands officer critically injured, I went cold wondering if it could be her. Thoughts with her family as well

Haven't seen the news but how very sad. They are so brave and do such and important job. My thoughts are with their families.

Last December two firemen were killed when the fireworks factory in Lewes blew up, one of them was a girl in my year's dad.

Very tragic. This country should start NOW to have more respect for our firefighters then their deaths wouldn't be totally in vain. They should be paid a GOOD wage and should be given the respect they deserve, like they are given in countries like France. It is sickening that they are often the targets for abuse.
If the hoax calls and the abuse could stop after this tragedy then the families could at least take some comfort.

I just don't get it - why would anyone want to throw bricks, stones etc at firemen?
These abusers should be hung drawn and quartered - firefighters deserve much more respect.

I keep saying as an American living in GB that when America catches a cold, GB Sneezes.
This is what firefighters and cops have put up with in the USA, the general abuse, physical, mental...it is just hard to put into words how very bad it can get...and how bad it has been in the States for years.
If someone doesn't start teaching respect for those whom my generation were taught were "friends" and "helpers" and "those to be respected at all costs" we are all going to be in a lot of trouble, not just here, but everywhere.
Personally I hope the bill that is before Parliament about keeping youngsters in school until the age of 18 helps. It certainly can't hurt. Frankly, I couldn't tie my shoelaces much less find a decent job when I was 16, luckily in the States we had to go to school (and still have to) until the age of 18...if nothing else it gives the cops and firefighters 8 hours of peace and quiet.
My thoughts are with those families tonight who are missing their loved ones and the bravery of those who went where others would not go.
Love you all and blesings and prayers,
Suzi
