Having whippets and loving to walk them up on the local moors, I live in fear that they will take it upon themselves to decide sheep are very exciting...
However, I've just moved my pony to a temporary field (he lives at work with me and we are shut down for a 3 week summer holiday). This field is part of a smallholding belonging to my OH's family where they keep 18 sheep.
Imagine my delight over the last two days to discover that far from being inclined to chase the sheep, my dogs appear to be AFRAID OF THEM. When the sheep catch sight of the dogs and do their charging off act, my dogs look absolutely petrified and slink away with their tails between their legs. They also give the sheep a ridiculously wide birth if they are come into contact with them.
Although apparently my younger whippet was attempting to persuade the sheep to chase HER the other day but doing that whippet 'run up to them and then zoom off at top speed' thing.
Ahhhhh, I am so happy and proud that my dogs are scared of sheep.
Pointless post really
