Today we went to a horse agility training day held in our village.
My daughter and I are novices and had never done anything like this before, neither it seems had Oakley!
Lou, the trainer, was very interesting and informative and gave us a lot to think about, helping us to improve our handling skills.
Oakley is quite a sensitive sort and can be a bit spooky when out but he outdid himself when we first arrived in the training area. One look at his worst enemy, the door fly curtain, and he was off. Lou took over and got him calm, he did all the other obstacles, some involved more snorting than others. The tarpaulin walk over was easy peasy! In the end my daughter got him through the fly curtain, but it had to be held back, so this is something to practice on.
It was a really enjoyable day and I feel we have all learnt a lot about each other.
If anyone is interested in doing this sort of thing in the Lincs/Yorks area PM me and I'll give you Lou's details.
