Allerton is my local event, but no lie in for me as I was 3rd in the dressage in my section, this meant yet another early start ! Dressage was fairly uneventful, Murphy didn't do a particularly brilliant test, but all the movements were in the correct places, and he was fairly obedient, despite getting rather strong in the canter work. Finished up with a score of 36.4 which put us 9th after dressage :). Took Murphy back to the lorry tied him up was taking out his studs, to suddenly find a lorry reversing into a the space between me and the lorry parked next to me, if Murphy wasn't the well behaved saint he is it could have been a VERY nasty accident, as if I hadnt moved him over the lorry would have reversed straight into him . This left me with a 4ft gap between my lorry and the one which had just reversed in (they had loads of room the other side, so no reason to get so close, plus they could see we had tied up there), meaning I could only tie Murphy up if he stood side on. The woman got out of the lorry, looked at me and Murphy and said "you'll have to tie up the other side", I pointed out I have nowhere to tie up to the other side of my lorry, to which she told me I would have to just do him inside the lorry. I was pretty angry by this time, and I refused to be bullied by this woman, so I told her Murphy cannot be tacked up in the lorry due to his saddle issues, and there wasn't room to do studs. So she said "well he had better not kick my lorry", I did tell her she could move her lorry over, but she refused because she "couldn't be bothered". Luckily I was parked next to a friend on the other side, so he let me tie Murphy to his lorry to get him ready in return for using my mounting block!!!!!

After this I had a long wait for the showjumping (4 1/2 hours!), so walked the XC course, and watched some of the intermediate, which seemed to be causing a fair few problems. Eventually it was time to go showjumping, the ground was pretty churned up as 4 sections of intermediate had already jumped the same course . Went in, and despite my best efforts to knock the last fence down, we somehow went clear :D, which was my first clear round intermediate showjumping! This ment we were 4th going into the XC.

Went down to the XC on my time, to be sent back as the intermediate was running over an hour behind . The steward told me to leave it an hour, but as the XC wasn't going to be running in number order, just to turn up when I was ready. Went back to the lorry untacked, was just wandering around the tradestands, when an announcement came over the tannoy that the IN XC was just about to start, and they were running in number order ! Legged it back to the lorry, threw tack and myself on Murphy, and trotted to the XC warm up, where the steward told me I had 1 minute, and I had to go in order. Jumped 1 fence, and trotted to the start box as the starter told me I had 10 seconds! Out the start box, good over the first 7, had a perfect shot to 8, but Murphy slipped on take off which although we cleared the fence, it knocked his confidence a bit. Sticky through fence 9, then good over 10, 11,12 and 13. 14 was the water, he jumped the barrel in well, then was really sticky going into the water, so we jumped the log in the water from a rather under powered trot, but we made it to the other side penalty free! Then he jumped the rest of the 22 fence course really well :).

Was a bit dissapointed to hear I had 14 time penalties (barring the sticky moments he felt to be going quick!), this meant I finished 12th, but at least we did get a shiny point for a double clear :D!

Sorry for the essay, a segment of chocolate orange for any one who wants some!

What a good day despite the annoyances - nasty lorry lady  and crazy cross country organising

What was the going like XC? I am entered for Aske on Saturday but after he had to go in very sticky ground at Hutton am not keen to give him a hard last run of the season..

Where next for you?

Well done a DC is a good day in my books!

What a horrid person next to you. It really bugs me when people squeeze into gaps, esp when you are tied there. I had someone in so close once I couldn't open my living door!

The gorund was a bit sticky as it was drizzling most of the day! Fingers crossed there won't be too much more before Aske. I'm at Bishop Burton BE90 regional final next with Jem, and Murphy will have his final run at Oasby. Good luck for Aske!

Hey, Well done you that's fantastic. Such a stressfull day in other areas though! Not sure why people have to be so horrid...I always think that they must have miserable lives to behave in that kind og manner! Makes me feel better anyway! :)
I pulled out of the XC at Hutton as Tilly found the ground really hard work and I broke her last year so I am very careful now.
Good look with your next two events and we may be a Kelsall BE100 on Sunday....but I will wait to see what the going is like....been pouring down here constantly for days! :)

Well done, a fab result :)!

The time was tight in all the classes imo, as although lots of PN ones were inside it isn't actually by that much, sounds a bit odd they changed their mind about how they were running the XC I ended up SJing very early as they seemed to be running miles ahead!

Next time you'll have to borrow our trick and quickly put out many fold away chairs and a dog so they can't park too close ;), though sounds like she might not of cared tbh.

DHB - Ground was very good on Saturday :).
