Hi Everyone,
I have not posted in a while as I find it difficult to get 5 mins on the PC.
I posted about 5 weeks ago about taking my youngster to her first unaff dressage competition, which we survived without too much trauma - she was just very very tense and gets so tense at times she looks unlevel.
Anyway, first time out we scored 56% and 58% (2 prelims) I was pleased as she was very overwhelmed by the other horses and thought she was at a party - other than being pretty rigid with tension she was good, no spooking or bucks or anything naughty.
2nd time out was a few days later, the fist prelim was pretty horrific - she was very tense and I felt like we were just motoring round - handbraking round the turns etc - she scored 62% so not sure if the judges were looking or not LOL. The second test at this event was a novice - which is a little much for her but as we had travelled I thought may as well go for it (there was only one prelim) we scored 50% but she gave me a much better feel so was very happy.
My 3rd outing was yesterday, upon arrival she was rather tense and stressy but she worked in nicely. I did a walk and trot test (intro A) and she actually relaxed and did a lovely test - we scored 74.8% I cant believe it! over the moon does not come close. We came 3rd - very very happy mummy!
My second class yesterday was prelim 18, and again, she was a good girl - a bit tense after the canters and not quite so relaxed and I ended up on a score of 66% again coming 3rd.
I guess this is just a bit self indulgent really but wanted to let you all know how very pleased I am with her, she is such a lovely young horse -once she has learned to chill after a lot more outings I think we will do very well.
Thank you to all of you who offered advice of how to help me relax her - I took all of your comments on board and its been a great help.
Vodka and tonic if you got this far! I will try and work out how to post a pic but I am not too good when it comes to computers!
Thanks for reading
